you know how sometimes at the checkout counter for 10 items or fewer the lady in front of you has 15 cans of coke but insists that technically she only has 1 thing in her trolley because they are all the same thing? i'm not her. i'm not going to stand in that line because i have 25 books in my basket. which is what i have for you today! 25 all time favourite / recommended storybooks by little old me, because at the end of the day all i want you to know about me is 1. i am a crazy cat lady 2. i love books. heee. (some of them changed my life)

1. Sweet Valley Twins series
2. 1980s and 1990s Reader's Digest
3. Archie comics
4. Catherine, Called Birdy (Karen Cushman)
5. A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver (E.L Konigsburg)
6. The Outsiders (S.E Hinton) - (Then go see the movie but keep your hands of sodapop, mmkay)
7. To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
8. The Immortal (Christopher Pike)
9. Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen) - I recommend all of Jane Austen's novels. If you're a beginner, start with Persuasion, it's the easiest to get through.
10. Harry Potter, NO DUH
11. Mallory Towers (Enid Blyton)
12. The Interpreter of Maladies (Jhumpa Lahiri) - I recommend this strongly! I even pushed it twice to the same person hee (sorry)
13. See Ya, Simon (David Hill)
14. Some Girls Do (Dahlia Kosinski)
15. Daughters of Darkness (L.J Smith) - Now this is the real-deal vampire living in human world stories(Night World Series). None of that sparkle in sunlight thing-a-majig, please.
16. The Lady and The Unicorn (Tracey Chevalier)
17. Dune books 1-3 (Frank Herbert)
18. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (Susanna Clarke) - After this book, everything else pales in comparison; at least for a time
19. The Chamber (John Grisham) - (If anyone can tell me what really happened in the end, let me know, thanks)
20. Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton)
21. Gone With The Wind (Margaret Mitchell) - (Dear Mass, i cried when melanie died. sincerely yours, nerr)
22. Romeo and Juliet (Bill Shakespeare) - I know it's cliche but SERIOUSLY, YES. Beginners of Shakespeare should definitely do this first because it is the easiest to grasp, and should you fail? Check out Leo Dicaprio and Claire Danes' R&J with this book in your hands. Everything will make beautiful, tragic sense. TRUST.
23. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Jules Verne)
24. Starwars Omnibus
25. The Light Princess (George McDonald) - I have the one illustrated by Maurice Sendak, most delightful
26. Roots (Alex Haley)
27. Anne of Green Gables (L.M Montgomery)
28. The Langoliers (Stephen King) - And Christine, please!
29. Summer Sisters (Judy Blume)
30. Creature (John Saul)
