Turn around Bright Eyes

every now and then i fall apart

april 21 - day 1 - arriving in gold coast

two weeks ago, tuesday night was the start of a trip into the most beautiful country i have ever stepped in.

first stop though, was gold coast. arrived in the morning and discovered that it was nicely warm and sunny. syiok! it was not as hot as in KL and the weather was pleasant. had to keep my coat and shawl though, but it's nice to whip out my "trendy" shades. HEEEE.

we stayed in a motel in southport, called the sundale motel. it looked very much like the US motels in CSI or even my name is earl. the pool is heated! i wouldn't have expected. i saw a huge cat, living in that area i think, and it made me miss my own cats. i've only been a day away and missing them already. crazy cat woman in action. the motel room was nice, with 2 bunk beds and a single bed, and bathroom and kitchen attached. kitchen not for cooking, the toilet/bath was very retro with seriously cool tiles. the "designer instinct" in me vowed to take a picture (of the very cool tiles).

we decided to check out the nearest harbourtown factory outlet mall, for lunch as well. a quick check discovered that the stuffs were expensive! surprising. it's not as good as the one in perth, for some reason the brands are not so pocket friendly. jay jays did not disappoint though, i picked up layered necklaces i've been wanting for ages, two for the 15AUD. chuffed.

went back to the motel as everyone was feeling weng(did not get a good nap on the plane, this air asia plane did not have reclining seats! all you could do was move the seat with the bottom! WHAT A HORRIBLE IDEA OMG), and went out after maghrib to check out the scene at surfer's paradise. oh before that ate dinner at this seafood shop whose name i have forgotten, a favorite haunt of cheyah's.

surfer's paradise was a place i only knew of it's existance after googling information for this trip. sheesh.

walked around, plenty of shops, plenty of souvenir shops, plenty of condom kingdoms (speechless, but what to expect of these orang putihs),COTTON ON (tapi dah nak tutup), then hit the flea market right next to the beach (apparently only available on wednesdays and fridays(what luck!)(cheyah lupa bila ada), very nice things on display, including rolled-flat fruits that you can eat like... uh... sweets? and also, i love that there was this contraption made by sponge/foam that was shaped into insects, and tied to a string made of wire, and kids take them for walks, and they look ALIVE! mesti murah pembuatan but i think it was about 5AUD. haha. but seeing the kids walk them tickled me to bits.

i will be trying to update my day to day activities of this trip. semoga usaha ini berjaya hendaknya.
