july 16 - electric youth ! can you feel the energy, coming up
books 15-18 are the percy jackson's adventure series. i'm a greek myth geek, so when given these i was all ready to be condescending from my high pedestal. it turned out that i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE these books. rick riordan is a genius for turning the myths i love and know quite well into something modern and parallel to our current world. although clearly aimed at kids/tweens, the writing is not simplistic and corny. i love percy's narrations and you could really get involved with the stories. like percy i am awful at remembering who was who and what was what but after finishing each one it felt like i've become more of a greek myth geek than before.
how much do i like these books? the first night i finished the first book(although a kid's book, they are quite lenghty to finish in just 1hr), the second night i raced through the 2nd book, the third night i did not want to start reading the third book because i only have 4 books and finishing it all would be devastating for me, the 4th night i successfully avoided the books and the fifth night... i slept really late because i just had to finish 3 and 4. there are 5 books altogether(really nice because this means the stories are not dragged out too long) and i have yet to get my hands on number 5. i would like to know what happens next (the pinnacle of percy's adventures and ultimate fate) but kind of sorry that it would end soon too.
so far i think my favourite book is number 4, because daedelus' labrynth is too awesome, but a close contender is book number 2, sea of monsters because, well maybe because i have a soft spot for jason's adventure.

a couple of days ago natinski tweeted about hearing the song electric youth on radio and i was like, reminisce! seriously, reminisce. debbie gibson was the first ever celebrity to appear in my dreams(she came to the house on a helicopter because i was her biggest fan(at that time). also, there might have been braided friendship bracelets in neon colors).
