Turn around Bright Eyes

every now and then i fall apart

march 14 - this is a piece of really crap writing but this is all i have right now

3rd day hk.

macau day. first checked out sports shoes street because c's feet hurt so bad wearing the shoes the brought she wore selipar jepun all day yesterday, and my feet weren't feeling to good either. came too early, though, none of the shops were open. so mcd bfast first, then went into 2 3 stores already opened - to no avail. keds' shop weren't open, darn it. would have loved some cute keds(although the prices at the window display were wayy out of my budget.

headed to chungwan to the ferry terminal/office building. bought tickets by cotai jet departing at 12.30pm. ride to macau was uneventful. 1 hr journey, very sleepy. we haven't had lunch at this point. btw many interesting ads in the magazines aboard the ferries, of casinos and women(playboy casino something).

arrived!in!macau!(maybe) our destinations were 1.fisherman's wharf 2.senado square and surrounding areas 3.the venetian from our research we gathered that the fisherman's wharf is just a short walk away from the jetty pier. easy peasy.

so we walked.

came to a main road, and a roundabout. the roundabout had a huge sign, MACAU.

we took pictures with the signboard to proof that we were in macau.

then we walked. and walked. and walked. and walked... past... the... macau... international... airport... and walked... then m checked the map and discovered that the hotels right in front of us was not mentioned anywhere in the map of macau. however, it was mentioned in the map of TAIPA.

TAIPA IS THE ISLAND NEXT TO MACAU.

i will forever remember and aware from that day that ferries from hongkong may arrive in two places in macau, 1.macau itself 2.taipa. and macau is made up of two huge islands, macau and taipa. thank yew very much.

we took a cab to fisherman's wharf and went right past the street that we walked about half an hour ago. heee. but we did spot the venetian, so now we know macau: fisherman's wharf and senado all things, and taipa: the venetian.

finally arrived in fw, which is full of buildings from other countries/parts of the world i.e coloseum, aladdin's fort, volcanoes? and the forbidden city. also building with many tiny windows of spain? piccah times. we had egg tarts here. YUMMY EGG TARTS OF MACAU I LOVE EGGTARTS OMG next destination senado square, so we have to take the bus into town(town is apparently senado square etc).

arrived in senado square, old buildings left over from portugese occupation, with signboards in portugese and chinese, cobbled streets. they also still have cny decos up, like lanterns and figurines and rabbits posters/likeness around the senado square. it was nice. many people too. so we walked from the square towards the st paul's ruin. the buildings look old and are probably old, but i'm bothered by how commercial it all is. the square is like a huge outdoor shopping mall. so these modern shops are in these old buildings and somehow that made me sad.

l had pork burger because he could eat anything and everything but we had nothing because we couldn't eat anything.

ruins of st paul was very interesting with the many steps and just a shell of the church. it was here that we were approached by a group of korean dudes who wanted to take pictures with us. maks rasa cam artis you alls... but they were cute and very nice. one even asked for my permission to put his hand on my shoulder, hee. berlapik kan, so takpe lah. anyways, we must have been a sight never seen because another korean couple wanted to take pictures with us. the girl was so cute but i didn't suggest for l to take picture with her, heee.

climbed the fort next to the st paul's ruin. saw cute dogs. m spotted a jogger taking a leak in front of the fort's wall.

night fell and we took off for the venetian.

the venetian was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing... the decor, the wall murals, the ceiling murals, the chandeliers, then the inside of the venetian itself mimicking the venice scene, complete witl canals, working gondolas, and buildings by the street, and the magical sky with clouds that moves when you move. i have no idea how it was achieved.

mucked about "venice" then peered from the balconies to view the casinos... can't get too close and pictures were not allowed. finally had enough and departed for the jetty. at the jetty we met again the korean group who wanted to take our picture. one of them though, a lee ji min, he must have liked us so much he wanted to talk to us the whole time we were waiting for the ferry.

AND on the way to board the ferry.

and throughout the whole journey back to hongkong. he didn't even procure a proper seat. the whole time he was perched on the seat-arm in front or next to mine. a nice chap, though, just maybe too friendly and apparently i am a tiny bit afraid of too friendly strangers.

anyway, facts gathered; he is from a town far from seoul, in university studying law, just broke up with his gf because he couldn't study while having a gf, had done his 2 years army duties compulsory for all korean boys before the age of 30, hated his hongkong trip roomate, in fact doesn't much like the rest of his trip buddies, wants to party all the time, speaks good english(albeit a little formal), fond of saying shortehhhhhhhhhhh. like the flowrider(sp?) song. shortehhh. he and his university mates were in hongkong to take part in some sort of a business program and also sightseeing.

finally when the ferry arrived in hk we thought we'd say goodbye. and he was all "oh shit! i have to go!" because his lecturers and his groupmate were getting off fast. we thought we'd seen the last of him.

we met him again at the immigration counter. and soon as he saw us he ran towards us with his arms open wide and hugged l. which cracked me up so hard because i don't think even his close guy friends has ever hugged him before! also, jm(korean dude)'s passport flew off in the act. which i have named, "pelukan passport melayang."

he gave us his email, and phone number before the final goodbyes. heee. still have it, unused.

went back to our mongkok place and walked around for a while, and dropped by crocs store and c bought a crocs sneakers. i was tempted, but my feet was not satisfied when i tried them on. cute, though. we took a long walk and discovered a H&M near to our place! JOY!

finally ended the night without a proper meal for the whole day. no tantrums.

i have just finished reading haruki murakami's norwegian wood, and, i... LOVED IT! apart from wow, japs sure do love sex, i think it's a beautiful story. or how it was told, it's beautiful. but 3 suicides in one book? whoa, i totally can see why the owner says it's depressing. but i really like it. i totally savored each morsel of japanese-place names and description, imagining how each place was like, and reading the names totally remind me of the time i spent in japan. and i quite adore midori, the way she hold conversations, i think she is so very cool and someone i'd like to emulate(in talking to other people). so i was really feeling very attached to japan after finished reading, then the next day... earthquake and the tsunami happened. how timely, and sad. felt chilled to the bone for few hours after learning the news.

one time, i had a drink near to my mouth and i mis-aimed and spilled some down my tudung. because i was watching ustaz amirul heeheee
